In
most of the modern welding source arcs are operated through pulsed currents. The
innovation developed by TELECOM Bretagne and Lixys is a fast liquid crystal filter
that allows a real time following of the light pulses induced by the pulsed arc
current. Lixys liquid crystal filter is about fifty times faster than a liquid crystal flat panel display. Lixys welding mask main advantages: - decrease of the welder fatigue during pulse welding - clearer vision for low frequency (<30Hz) pulse welding Lixys welding mask is compatible to constant current welding. |

| Lixys has completed recently a prototype and has tested it at the Institut de Soudure (Welding Institute, Paris). This prototype includes a fast shutter at a standard size for welding masks (10x5cm), a nematic cell (combination patented) and an optical sensor to detect light pulses. A paper has been published in the journal “Soudage” of the Institut de Soudure. The potential of Lixys innovation has been validated by this test. |
